The Finger Lakes, Carved in Wood: Discover Our Bathymetric Map Collection

There's something humbling about standing at the edge of Seneca Lake, knowing the water beneath you plunges 618 feet into the earth — deeper than many ocean shelves. The Finger Lakes aren't just beautiful. They're ancient, glacially carved, and geologically extraordinary. Our Finger Lakes Bathymetric Maps are designed to honor exactly that.

What Is a Bathymetric Map?

Bathymetry is the study of underwater depth — essentially, topography for lake and ocean floors. A bathymetric map reveals the hidden contours beneath the surface: the ridges, drop-offs, and basins that make each lake unique. For the Finger Lakes, those contours tell a story 10,000 years in the making.

Handcrafted in the Region They Celebrate

Each map is handcrafted right here in the Finger Lakes region using a four-layer construction: lake-blue painted MDF as the base, golden brown maple in the middle, and rich dark walnut on top — with precision laser engraving that traces every depth profile in stunning detail. The result is a piece that's as much fine art as it is geography.

At 11.5" × 17.25", it's sized perfectly for a lake house wall, a home office, or a gift that actually means something.

Choose Your Lake

We offer all eleven Finger Lakes — Canadice, Canandaigua, Cayuga, Conesus, Hemlock, Honeoye, Keuka, Otisco, Owasco, Seneca, and Skaneateles — plus beloved New York waterways like Lake George, Chautauqua Lake, Silver Lake, Sodus Bay, and more. Nineteen lakes in total.

Each one is engraved with its lake name in maple, making it immediately personal and display-ready.

A Few Lake Facts Worth Knowing

  • Seneca Lake reaches 618 feet at its deepest — one of the deepest lakes in the U.S.
  • Skaneateles sits at 863 feet above sea level, the highest elevation of the Finger Lakes.
  • Lake George stretches 32 miles through the Adirondacks and is known as the "Queen of American Lakes."

The Perfect Gift for Finger Lakes Lovers

Whether it's for a lake house, a birthday, a wedding, or just because someone loves New York's waterways, these maps hit differently than a generic piece of wall art. They're specific. They're handcrafted. And they're made by someone who lives and works in the same region they celebrate.
